Can Veneers be Removed?

Have you ever had buyer’s remorse? Have you bought something and later wanted to return it because you found out you wanted something else? Many people have the same thought process when getting a dental restoration, but you should always talk with your dentist before getting any dental treatment because you may not be able to go back on the procedure.

Dental veneers are a popular restoration option since they are difficult to stain, and they can last up to 10 years. However, they also require a small portion of your tooth’s enamel to be removed in order to fit correctly. This makes them a permanent restoration option, and if they break or suffer excessive wear, you will need to get them replaced. In some instances, a replacement veneer is unable to be bonded, so a patient will have to get a dental bonding or dental crown in order to repair the tooth.

You should discuss your replacement options before your first veneer is placed. If you do not want to undergo alternative treatments in the future that might require a majority of the tooth being grinded down, you should not opt for a procedure that requires any alteration to your teeth.
