How Do Clear Braces Work?

All dental braces are used to gradually correct issues with tooth alignment and spacing, and this also includes clear braces. They are less noticeable than traditional metal braces, but they are very similar. Clear brackets replace the traditional metal in a way that is still effective without being a reason to hide in embarrassment.

Our orthodontist in Los Angeles uses a ceramic or plastic material to create the brackets that are attached to teeth. A thin archwire is held in place by the brackets, and requires gradual tightening to keep pressure on the teeth. It does require regular visits to the dentist to keep the pressure adequate enough to force the teeth to shift as intended. This is a source of temporary discomfort that usually subsides within a couple of days. Total realignment results in the teeth shifting to a more pleasing position, often closing the large gaps in between.

Clear braces are designed to work overtime either in a single phase, or two-phase treatment if necessary. Our expert in clear braces in Los Angeles finds that self-litigating brackets that replace the need for rubber bands is another reason why patients are choosing to be more discreet in their tooth correction.
