Treatments Used for a Full Mouth Reconstruction

A full mouth reconstruction is a series of procedures designed to tackle several oral health issues at once. Candidates usually suffer from some combination of gum disease, tooth decay, bite abnormalities, and teeth that are misaligned, stained, chipped, broken or missing altogether.

Before deciding exactly which procedures you need, our Los Angeles full mouth reconstruction expert will conduct a full exam, including X-rays. If you are suffering from gum disease and tooth decay, a deep cleaning will be in order.  If you have teeth that need to be whitened, in-house whitening will be the next step.

Teeth with stains that cannot be treated with whitening, or are chipped, misshapen or slightly misaligned, may be treated with veneers. Veneers are tiny, porcelain caps bonded directly to your teeth. A crown may also be used to cover the entire visible portion of the tooth.

There are several options for teeth that need to be replaced. Traditional dentures and bridges can be effective, as well as dental implants. Implants are crowns rooted into your jawbone with a titanium rod, keeping your smile sturdy and bone tissue stimulated. Orthodontic care, like metal braces or Invisalign, can also be used if teeth are severely misaligned.

These procedures may happen in a different order, or not at all, depending on the patient. To see if a full mouth reconstruction is right for you, contact our office today.
